Abdalla is a refugee who just entered America. As he takes notes in a classroom (to learn the basics of English) all he can think about is his daughter Batulo.

She is the one who studies hard, she taught him the basics of speaking and writing in English, she is the responsible one who makes sure her brothers and sisters are up to par with their school work. And she should be with him.

Days before this he thought America who give her the chance to follow her dream of becoming a doctor. Instead she is stuck in a refugee camp 8,000 miles away.

The day came when the letter this family received would determine if they were going to the United States or not,

Batulo was the one to open the letter, which exclaimed they were allowed to enter.

Joy filled Abdallas body and he couldn’t contain himself.

The downfall was Batulo is not a dependent minor and would be traveling alone since her age. Officials split them up.

Abdalla tried comforting her daughter, reassuring her that they would be together in a couple of days.

That all changed January 27th.

Donald Trump was days away from starting his position as president when Abdalla Ramadhan landed in the U.S.

The family was just settling into their new apartment in the Atlanta suburb of Clarkston when Trump went to the Pentagon and signed an executive order titled “Protecting the Nation from Foreign Terrorist Entry Into the United States.

This blocked any refugees from leaving including where Batulo was. She was stranded and her flight was cancelled. Scared and alone she was now.

Adballa now lays awake every night wondering when he will see his daughter again and Batulo the same. She is in a massive refugee camp where there are around 160,000 people. Living in filth swatting at mosquitoes every night. Hoping that one day she will reunite with her father.

Eventually they are reunited and it is a heartwarming event. Other families are not as lucky as these two were.
